5 Top tips for the new year

Part 1 of 6 

Starting 2007 with a New Year’s resolution is a perfect time to change old habits. Many of us will be planning to get in shape after a heavy Christmas and New Year, myself included! Others of us will be realising that it is only 6 months until summer holidays and need to get fit and get that beach body ready. As I’m sure you know it can be really difficult to start a new regime let alone stick to it. So I am here to help guide you through. Below is a list of the top 5 tips to get yourself prepared and stick to your healthy lifestyle routine. I will be covering the tips in detail, one at a time over the next few days, please keep me updated on your progress and any problems you come across.

1.    Mind Set: This is the most important as without the right mind set you will never be able to achieve your goals, let alone force yourself to train.

2.    Goals: Setting yourself a final goal is one thing however it can seem a long way off to some of us. Set yourself lots of smaller goals in between with realistic time schedules. This will make the end result seem all the more attainable.

3.    Diet: A healthy whole food diet is the answer to the new you, nothing fancy just sensible eating. However there are some tips that I will go into later that you may not have considered which will considerably help you to reach your goal faster.

4.    Exercise: Of course the ‘Top Tips’ would not be complete without the dreaded exercise and naturally it plays a vital role in the ‘New You’.

5.    Stretching: Now I personally feel that stretching is never given the respect it deserves. It is as important as the training itself and will help to condition your muscles and body to avoid injury and increase your metabolic rate.
