The Experiment

Beeble cartoon wearing science glasses and holding a test tubeOver the last 6 months I have been taking part in an experiment that I devised for myself. An ingenious experiment that involved me doing no exercise and eating what I want. (Sounds good, tell me more – Beeble.) Okay that wasn’t the actual experiment but it was my preparation for the experiment.

What is the experiment?

The plan was to get myself as unfit as I possibly could within 6 months by not exercising and taking the easy option for absolutely everything I did. I ate what I wanted when I wanted; I would not say that my diet was deliberately bad as I naturally eat reasonably well, however it did give me free reign on choices of food and drink. Well 6 months have passed now and so let the experiment begin.

It is now my job to get back to my original fit self. My predication is that it will take me exactly half the time that I spent staying away from exercise to return to my usual fitness level. So with that theory in hand it should be in about 3 months that I will be fighting fit. I will be writing up my progress regularly and commenting on everything from exercise technique to mental and emotional feelings during the transformation. I will not be spending time on any change in diet, I will eat well but it won’t be the main focus as this experiment is all about the exercise.

Do you want to join in?

You can join me on my journey by following my training regime. The trick will be that you will have to adapt it to your own fitness levels. Ideally the program is designed for people who have been fairly fit in the past and want to get back into it. However if you are new to exercise you can still follow along: just use weights that are more suitable for your level. Those of you who are fitter may want to share my fitness routine as well and just increase the weights and levels.

How to follow the training regime

I have linked up with Beebleblog’s good friend Gyminee.com so that you can follow my training regime. To join Gyminee, which is free, please click here. You will need to join so that you can access the group I have created and of course follow the training program. To join my group (also free – Beeble) click here. At the group you will be able to join in on discussions and follow the training sessions. There you will find the training regime for Month 1 which has videos, pictures and descriptions of how to do the exercises.

Who designs the workouts?

One thing I have learnt is that if you know someone skilled enough, always get them to design your exercise programs. I have enlisted the best personal trainer I know and that is Mrs. Saner (not his mum, but his wife – Beeble). She will not let me slack and as long as I don’t complain too much things will run very smoothly. So for those of you who follow the regime you can thank her for the results and curse her name along with me when the going gets tough. All the workouts will be gym-based so those of you who are not members of your local gym, yes it’s time to join!

The training starts next Monday so for those of you who join in good luck and together we can do it! Let’s hope I can take some of my own training punishment for a change, this should make all my clients very happy that the shoe will be on the other foot for a change. I will keep writing on my progress and it would be great if you can keep me updated on your progress too.
