Could you look as good as our couple in their adult romper suits and lose weight at the same time? No no no it doesn’t work like that and here is why.
Lets start from the beginning - What is sweat?
Sweating is a very important function of our body as it helps us to stay cool, this is called perspiration. When you sweat you release a salty liquid from your sweat glands. Some people sweat more than others and this depends on how many sweat glands you have - one is born with about two to four million sweat glands (Stinky!– Beeble).
So this is our natural way to regulate the body’s temperature and we sweat more when we are hot or exercising (or nervous, angry and embarrassed – Beeble).
Then why do I lose weight when I sweat?
When you sweat you do lose weight – correct, but this weight is just water weight (water and electolytes – Beeble) and not fat weight, and you will put it straight back on as your body will need to be re-hydrated.
Sweat Suits
For many years now people have used sweat suits or plastic bags when training to make them sweat more. The weight-loss myth has been used through various sports like boxing and wrestling with the idea that they can lose excess weight for the weigh-in class.
Saunas
Again, saunas have been a popular with people thinking it is the easy way to lose weight but again all you are doing is dehydrating your body and that loss of water will need to be replaced. However the sauna is good in other areas, for example it opens the pores of the skin and this helps cleanse your skin and get out all your bad toxins – but it is not for losing weight!
Summary
Sweating excessively in order to lose weight has no useful benefits, it is just dangerous as the body can overheat causing heatstroke or kidney damage and other cardiovascular problems and in severe cases can cause death!
So let the body sweat naturally in order to regulate the body temperature but do not force it to over heat as this will not help you to lose weight, it will just slow down your training as you will not be able to perform as well resulting in slower progress in your desired goals.
Train Safe and sensibly and keep your body hydrated.

Thank you for making sure people understand that sweating is great for your skin, and helps remove toxins and the occasional sauna is great! But… if you do it constantly your body will crave water and you may even develop headaches and other signs of dehydration, all for nothing - because the ‘weight’ you are losing is cellular water and this means you are dehydrating and your cells will suffer.
